Walkabout
2008
This summer Unalayee will again offer the Walkabout adventure.
Like its namesake, Unalayee's Walkabout is a journey of self-discovery
on a month long trek through the rugged Klamath Mountains.
Created by the tectonic collision of the Pacific and Gorda plates, the Klamath Mountains are a jumble of basalt, granite and serpentine with limestone caverns, ancient forests, alpine lakes and cascading streams.
This lightly traveled mountain range with its diverse geological and
botanical makeup is a spectacular arena in which to immerse oneself
into the natural world.
Whether it is swimming with salmon, forging for edible plants, making fire with bows and drills, watching the sunrise from Russian Peak or baking bread, the Walkabout is an adventure that will last a lifetime.
